Day 52 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment! Dairy allergy???

Hi friends: It’s day 52 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! Last night I had a slip-up and I am dealing with the consequences today. I made pizza for my daughter’s dinner and steak for my husband and I. I had planned that I would be eating steak and chicken crackling for my dinner. Chicken cracklings are baked chicken skins. They are delicious btw.

Last week my daughter had some friends over and they made pizza as well. We usually do not have cheese in the house because of my decision to remove it from my diet. My daughter has been using vegan cheese because she made the same decision.

What I am trying to say is. I ate a large amount of cheese last night. I would call it a mini binge. The idea of making pizza really made me crave cheese. The action of making my daughter’s pizza really made me want cheese. I didn’t want to make a pizza for myself. I wanted what I couldn’t have.

I told myself, well it’s been almost two months since I have been doing this meat diet. Many people have said that their food allergies have been cured. I figured a little bit would not hurt. I did remind myself of what could happen. I reminded myself of what happened when I tried goat cheese and goat milk. Many people are fine with it but I wasn’t. My acne returned when I tried this milder form of dairy. My acne didn’t return the next day but it did come back a few days later. I was willing to take the chance. I really wanted that cheese.

I had a tiny piece and it tasted so good. Not having something and then having it…is an incredible feeling. It was delicious. The best cheese I have ever tasted and it was simply mozzarella pizza cheese. Then I said to myself. Well, you broke your protocol regarding cheese…so might as well have more. I ate at least two cups of cheese. After I ate all of this cheese I felt awful. Awful emotionally…I felt guilty. I wondered…why would I eat something that I knew could potentially harm me. I knew the consequences but I choose to ignore them.

This morning I woke up to a greasy face and new acne breakouts. My face and arms have been so itchy. Scratching did not relieve the itching. The irritation seems to be below my skin and beyond my reach. I noticed that my eyes were really puffy and itchy too. I felt like I was experiencing an allergic reaction. Not sure what was going on. I have never experienced these new symptoms from eating cheese. I do have an allergy to mold. So I wonder if the cheese I ate had some mold on it. Anyway, I have tossed the remaining cheese in the garbage.

After taking a Benadryl capsule, my itchiness went away hours later. I also noticed that the puffiness around my eyes was minimized. Benadryl is a is an antihistamine mainly used to treat allergies.

I wish I had not eaten that dairy. Anyway, today is another day. I cannot change the decision I made yesterday. No more dairy for me!

Today’s dinner was steak!
