Day 53 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment! Carnivore shopping list!

Hi friends: It’s day 53 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! You may be new to my blog and you are interested in the carnivore diet but not a fan of steak. You might be a foodie like me and crave variety. I have some suggestions for you.

Carnivore diet shopping list:

Bacon and Sausage

Check labels for anything cured in sugar, or if it contains extra fillers.

Fish

Preferably eating anything that is caught wild like catfish, cod, flounder, halibut, mackerel, mahi-mahi, salmon, snapper, trout, sardines and tuna. Fattier fish is better.

Poultry

Chicken, duck, quail, pheasant and other wild game.

Shellfish

Clams, oysters, lobster, crab, scallops, mussels, and squid.

Eggs

Try to get them free-range from the local market if possible. You can prepare them in many different ways like fried, deviled, boiled, poached, and scrambled.

Offal/Organ

Heart, liver, kidney, and tongue. Offal is one of the best sources of vitamins/nutrients.

Pork

Ground pork, pork loin, pork chops, tenderloin, and ham. Watch out for added sugars and try to stick with fattier cuts.

Other/Dairy/Oils

Butter – used to cook steaks.

Animal fat – used to cook steak, bacon grease is very tasty.

Coconut oil – also used to fry meat.

MCT Oil – one tablespoon on my steak to add fat

Olive oil – to fry meat.

Seasoning – salt, pepper, paprika.

My preference is butter or bacon grease for searing my steaks. If I think my fat is low, I will add butter or a tablespoon of mct oil to my steak.

There are so many other meat choices such as veal, goat, lamb, turkey and other wild game. Stick with fattier cuts where possible.

Personally for me, what’s on my shopping list is steak, chicken, bacon, eggs and fish and shellfish. I eat a steak a day mostly. At the beginning of this experiment I did crave variety but at this point. I look forward to the first bite of my steak. Oh my goodness. So good!
