Day 5 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Hello friends: It’s day five of the carnivore diet experiment! I am happy to report that my flu like symptoms are gone! Yes, I did in fact have the carnivore flu for a few days. The remedy that worked for me was salt and Magnesium Glycinate. What an easy fix! I simply sprinkled extra salt on my steak. I took magnesium tablets.
While I was dealing with the carnivore flu. I researched that Magnesium is one of the minerals in our bodies that we are most often lacking even when we are still eating foods rich in magnesium. I prefer magnesium glycinate instead of magnesium citrate because it is absorbed much better by the body and is gentler on my stomach.
Magnesium deficiency is common for people who have cut their carbs and are deep in ketosis, but I am so happy that my flu issues were fixed with such a simple supplement. Considering that I have had zero carbs for 4 days. I am not surprised that I experienced flu like symptoms.
Magnesium is important because we need it for energy production, to synthesize DNA and RNA, and to help transport calcium and potassium ions across our cell membranes, which helps our nerve impulse conduction, muscle relaxation and contraction, and to regulate our heart rhythm.
Benefits of Taking Magnesium are:
– Reduce the risk of a stroke
– Improve pain for fibromyalgia sufferers
– Lower the risk of type 2 diabetes
– Slowed the development of osteoporosis
– Reduced the frequency of migraine headaches
Long story short I will be adding magnesium glycinate to my supplement list while doing this experiment. I will add again that many hardcore carnivores do not take supplements because all nutrients that the body require are in the steaks. However, this is an experiment so I am going to stick with my supplements for now.
I went for a 30 minute stroll after work. It’s getting cold and fall is here. Today’s dinner was bacon, eggs and steak! I am eating until I am full. However, I am hoping that I am eating enough. I hope that a 4 hour eating window still works for me. I am still fasting for 20 hours. Intermittent fasting is still a huge part of my lifestyle. Intermittent fasting is term for various diets that cycle between a period of fasting and non-fasting during a defined period. It’s Friday I’m excited for this Thanksgiving weekend. I do have a plan to survive all of the sugar, junk and carbs that I will see this weekend.
