Day 23 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!
Hi friends: It’s day 23 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! It’s getting so cold. Winter is just around the corner and I’m dreading it! I would love to live in a warm climate. I have noticed that eating just meat has made me feel cold most of the time. Even with the heat on, I am wearing an extra layer and I have a blanket draped around me when watching television.
According to Dr. Berg when we do any kind of intermittent fasting in general. The core body temperature will decrease. This is apparently, the adaption process of not eating. If you are experiencing this cold body feeling. There is nothing to worry about you are still going to burn fat.
I always thought that I had to heat the body up to burn fat! I remember years ago I would wear a tracksuit to the gym and as my body got hotter. I started to sweat. I felt like this was how I was burning fat! The hotter the body the more fat burn. Apparently, we can take a cold shower and burn more calories instead of trying to heat up the body.
Dr. Berg recommends taking B1 and or nutritional yeast in it’s natural form to help with the transition. He states that the temperature issues will improve over time as your body adapts.
So apparently, this cold feeling is a normal response. I am going to research the supplements he recommended but for now, I think I will just tough it out.
One of the things that I found out about nutritional yeast is that according to livestrong.com Brewerโs yeast is the fungus Saccharomyces cerevisiae and a common component in the fermentation of beer. While not an essential nutrient needed by the body, the University of Maryland Medical Center reports this yeast is a vital source for B-complex vitamins. Two of those vitamins, B5 and B6, can help prevent graying in hair. B5 may work to keep gray hair for forming and B6 helps the body manufacture melanin to sustain natural hair color. As a dietary supplement, brewerโs yeast may also help control blood sugar levels and reduce body fat and cholesterol. I love that mention about the prevention of grey hair.
Steak is packed with B vitamins. So…I wonder if I am eating enough steak. I have opened my eating window to 4 hours. I have been eating a steak a day with animal products. So I am going to try to eat a least two steaks at my omad. I would say that it’s one of the downfalls of this carnivore diet. I eat my meal which is usually steak and I feel full really fast. I don’t seem to get hungry during my fasts. However, if I see a commercial about junk food then I am triggered. I have so much unnecessary programming that has to get deleted.
Today’s dinner was a gigantic ribeye steak packed with B vitamins!
