Day 14 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Day 14 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Hi friends: It’s day 14 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! Many of my Instagram followers are questioning why 365 days? I think that is a fair question. I have done this diet many times but for very different reasons. The first time I tried it. It was a fad. I was very interested but not committed. I did it for about 5 days. I didn’t really experience any major benefits accept for weight loss.

The second time I tried the carnivore diet I did it because I heard Joe Rogan’s podcast. He interviewed Dr. Shawn Baker, honestly, I thought the guy was nuts. He spoke about eating just meat and the many health benefits such as improved digestion, mental clarity, decreased inflammation, and faster weight loss.

He described the carnivore diet in simple terms. The carnivore diet is the complete opposite of a vegan diet. It is a simple diet he stated, “Eat meat when hungry and drink water when thirsty.”

He also went on to say that this diet is a restriction/elimination of all types of carbohydrates and plants from your diet. I thought wow this is major! No plants! No carbs. No keto junk food? I didn’t think I could do it. Looking at his Instagram, he posted success stories and many before and after pictures. Many people claimed weight loss without exercise and reversal of serious digestive issues.

At the time, I had lost all of the weight I wanted and I was happy at my goal weight of 135 pounds. However, I was interested in maintaining and also I wanted to experience the benefits of improved digestion, mental clarity, and decreased inflammation. So I had to try this. I wanted to see if this doctor was correct. I started this diet as a skeptic. I decided I would try the diet for 30 days as a challenge. Challenge is the keyword. I had zero intention of continuing that diet for the long term. Actually, at the end of my 30 days, I was amazed! I had gone from 135 to 127! My acne, digestive, and sleep issues had vanished. I was feeling great! I had committed to doing the carnivore diet Monday to Friday and the ketogenic diet Saturday and Sunday!

So what happened? Why didn’t I continue the carnivore diet for the long term during the summer of 2018? I got too comfortable and I veered off. I forgot what I felt like before doing this carnivore diet. So this time around. I decided to do it as a lifestyle change.

I thought to myself….My habit of eating from the time I woke up to the time I went to sleep was broken by changing my eating habits. I now eat once a day! This is a habit now! I know that what I choose to eat can also become a habit.

The benefits that I experienced at the one month mark was incredible. I am excited to see what benefits I will be experiencing during the long term span of 365! I will keep you all posted!

Week 2 health benefits so far:
Acne – I have a few new breakouts.
Digestion – Massive improvement! No more acid reflux! No more bloating!
Sleep – Improvement – I am sleeping throughout the night. I’m getting to sleep much faster.
Weight – Current weight is 137.2 Yay! Week 1 I was 139.6. So I have lost weight! I know that the weight aspect is not the most important part but I will admit that I was happy to see this number. My lowest weight was 127. So I lost a total of 2.4 pounds in one week!
Energy – Slight improvement…I am not where I want to be energy-wise just yet! It is fall! So we all feel blah!

I am really happy about the changes so far! Seeing these improvements really motivates me to continue!

Today’s dinner was steak and chicken cracklings!
