Day 78 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Hi friends: It’s day 78 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment!
One of most exciting benefits of the carnivore diet is weight loss. Most people’s first reaction is that you’d get fat, but that’s not the case. As with the ketogenic diet, failing to take in carbs keeps your blood sugar low at all times. You don’t get insulin spikes, so your body has no reason to store incoming calories as body fat. Additionally, the limitations on what you can eat make it almost impossible to get a calorie surplus without a concentrated effort.

My husband experimented with the carnivore diet for 35 days. He wasn’t trying to lose weight but I he went from 220 to 210 pounds in the first week. Despite the weight loss and the severely restricted food list, my husband said he never felt the least bit hungry because protein and fat are highly satiating nutrients. He found that he had to discipline himself to eat two to four pounds of meat daily. He said it felt strange eating all that meat without carbs.

The first time I did the carnivore diet I went from 135 to 127 in one month. I think that the weight varies from person to person.

I was the type of person who would absent-mindedly snack on nuts, pretzels, or other snack foods, taking in hundreds of calories without even noticing. I did this mostly by watching tv and I also snacked while working. However, the carnivore diet helped to keep me in check.

You have to be truly hungry to eat. You’ll get in the habit of eating only when you need to, and taking in just enough to keep you satisfied.
