Day 38 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!
Hi friends: It’s day 38 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! I had mentioned that I had re-introduced dairy into my diet. Actually, I introduced goat cheese and goat milk. I enjoyed both very much. However, the goat milk does taste slightly different than cows milk.
I had read that goat milk products were a great alternative to dairy. I was hoping that there would not be a connection to goat milk products and my acne. Sadly today, I woke up to some breakouts. I’m not happy about that.
I am realizing that goat milk products still caused some problems for me because most likely the goats were pumped with hormones to help their babies grow. These hormones are what causes acne, and it still spikes your insulin-like regular milk does (which leads to inflammation and redness/swelling of acne).
The only take away is that it is easier to digest. I am going to remove it entirely from my diet.
Here is my plan!
I am going to cut out all sources of dairy from your diet for the rest of this carnivore experiment. I intend to go for 365 days. I am going to go cold turkey. I am an all or nothing type of person. Doing it gradually does not always work for me.
The first 30 days of this experiment. I had seen a noticeable improvement in my skin. If you are going to try this with me, I would recommend no dairy for the first 30 days. Then after 30 days, if you want, you can start experimenting at this point with adding back in certain types of high-quality dairy. You might try drinking raw, grass-fed whole milk, or eating some organic kefir, yogurt, butter, or cheese. Now, don’t eat these all at once – you’ll get the best feedback from your skin if you try one thing at a time, and wait a few days in between.
If your skin doesn’t improve, that doesn’t necessarily mean that dairy is safe for your skin. What it definitely means is that there’s something else triggering your acne – maybe something else you’re eating, some nutrients you’re missing, or some lifestyle issues like stress or environmental toxins.
Today’s dinner was steak and bacon. Bye dairy!
