Day 39 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Hi friends: It’s day 39 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! I am feeling good. I am in a great mood and my stress is at an all-time low!

According to Dr. Berg, “What’s ironic is that the food people eat to reduce stress actually adds more stress. From sweets, they get a spike in blood sugar and an immediate drop. Now they are really stressed out, irritated, grouchy, and craving sweets even more. Eating sweets and refined carbs depletes potassium, calcium and vitamin B1β€”the three key nutrients to keep your nervous system calm.”

I agree with Dr. Berg. Since I only eat meat, I have eliminated sugar. When I did eat sugar, the more I ate…the more I wanted it. I could never just eat a square of a chocolate bar. I had to eat the whole bar. It didn’t matter if I was eating real sugar or a sugar substitute. My chocolate bar was the coco polo whole hazelnut bars. Yes, they were keto-friendly but they did not keep my nervous system calm.

I am 39 days into the carnivore diet. I have not had any sugar. However, I still crave it and I feel that sugar had a drug-like effect on my brain. I am addicted to it. Currently going cold turkey to beat this addiction.

If you are like me, you may be interested in sugar substitutes but before you swap refined sugar for artificial sweeteners, it’s important to know that… Artificial sweeteners also appear to have several negative effects on the brain. Sweeteners, such as aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin, are not healthy alternatives to sugar. These sweeteners are in a variety of foods and drinks, such as diet soda, sugar-free snacks, and energy drinks.

The artificial sweeteners have been linked to everything from memory loss to an increased risk of obesity. So please do your research. Lay off the sugar. Drink your coffee, tea black or just sip water. I have drinking carbonated water and it gives me the same sensation as if I was drinking pop. Be sure to opt for only glass bottles.
