Day 16 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Day 16 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Hi friends: It’s day 16 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! Wow! These last 16 days have gone by so fast. When I did this diet during the summer. This was around the point where I felt that I was getting bored with eating meat all the time. I really needed a variety! My carvings were at an all-time high!

At this point in the experiment. I’m doing fine. I am not bored of eating meat. I have been eating mostly steak. When I eat the steak I do feel quite full and satisfied. Lately, I have been adding bacon or chicken wings just to add variety and more calories. I think of my main meal as the steak and the bacon or wings as my dessert. If you are at this point in the experiment and you are feeling bored I would change things up. Maybe have some bacon and eggs instead or even switch to eating two meals instead of just one.

I have been drinking milk thistle tea to end my meals sometimes. According to webmd.com milk thistle (silymarin) is a flowering herb related to the daisy and ragweed family. It is native to Mediterranean countries. Some people also call it Mary thistle and holy thistle. Milk thistle has been used medicinally for hundreds of years. It is used as a detox for the liver by some people.

It is believed to be one of the most popular and effective herbs for the treatment of psoriasis, and liver-related diseases such as hepatitis and cirrhosis, and gallbladder disorders. It is claimed that liver cell repair can help with several health issues including bad cholesterol levels, mushroom toxicity, gallstones, hepatitis C, cirrhosis and some cancers. Milk thistle alone will probably not cure these conditions, but sustained and regular consumption of milk thistle, along with a healthier lifestyle may well help to alleviate or even reverse many of the symptoms.

If you have a ragweed allergy, you should also avoid milk thistle. Milk thistle may cause a rash or lead to a severe allergic reaction. Also, this tea does react to some medications so check with your doctor. Personally, for me, I had not had any adverse reactions. This is a great alternative for me because I am avoiding coffee during the week. It is so nice to close my eating window for a nice hot drink.

I am still doing intermittent fasting on a daily basis. I fast for 20 hours and have an eating window of 4 hours. I am finding that 4 hours is too long. Two hours seems to be plenty of time for me to fully enjoy my meal.

I am not feeling bored. I wonder if my mindset has anything to do with this feeling. Knowing that I am going to be doing this diet for a year really puts things into perspective and I am forcing myself to come up with alternative ideas to make things work. This is a good thing!

Today’s dinner was steak!
