Day 29 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Hi friends: It’s day 29 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! Today, I listened to the Breakfast club radio show when I go for my nightly walks. This was an old podcast. I wanted to share this with you because this topic had to do with food.

This is what they were talking about “Colleton County man is facing an attempted murder charge after investigators say he shot his cousin for eating his potato chips, then tried to cover up the shooting.

Colleton County Sheriff’s Office deputies say, Ryan Langdale, 19, shot his 17-year-old cousin on Saturday, Sept. 29 at an address on Hudson Mill Road, near the town of Ruffin.

The 17-year-old’s wound from the gunshot was life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities say initially, the suspect claimed the shooting was accidental and happened while cleaning a hunting rifle.

But, after further investigation, authorities learned that Langdale switched weapons while on the scene and intentionally pointed out the wrong rifle to investigators to obscure his involvement.

After inconsistent statements and further investigation, the victim later told authorities the shooting was intentional and claimed his cousin shot him after warning him not to eat his potato chips.

On Oct. 8, investigators executed a search warrant at Langdale’s residence and recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting. The suspect surrendered to investigators at the Colleton County Detention Center. He was booked on charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and obstruction of justice.

Langdale received a $55,000 cash/surety bond and is currently being housed at the Colleton County Detention Center.” source Man shots cousin over potato chips

When I heard this story this morning. I remember Dr. Oz talking about the chemicals in potato chips years ago. Dr. Oz said that when it comes to potato chips, it’s almost impossible to eat just one – but did you know that was by design? Dr. Oz stated that potato chips are carefully calibrated to appeal to the pleasure centers of your brain. He said that chips are the most weight inducing snack out there.

According to Michael Moss, in researching the contents for his book  “Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hook Us” he stated that he’d  find myself drawn irresistibly to his potato chip stash. They’re nice and salty, which tells the brain to eat more and loaded with fat, which has twice the calories of sugar and doesn’t alert [the] brain to overeating. But potato chips hit the trifecta, or maybe I should say the unholy trinity because they’re also loaded with starch, which converts to sugar the instant it hits your tongue. And glucose spikes lead to cravings. The potato chip is the single largest contributor to weight gain in the country. It’s not for nothing that Lay’s slogan is “you can’t eat just one.”

So if you are wondering why you are still craving things like chips. The above may explain why.
