Day 28 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Hi friends: It’s day 28 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! I am noticing that people start the carnivore diet for many reasons.
The most common reasons are:
- to regain physical or mental health.
- some people want more focus and energy.
- some want more performance in the gym and in their sport.
- many come from a Ketogenic Diet where weight loss stalls.
- many have autoimmune issues.
However, the number one reason is weight loss. Many people come to the carnivore diet because they want to lose weight. It is the last resort. I have noticed that many of my followers ask me how is the weight loss going. They want to know if there is a connection between the carnivore diet and weight loss. The answer is yes and no. Many people lose weight and many gain weight.
If you are coming to the carnivore diet eating the typical standard American diet and you are overweight. Yes, you will lose weight. The fat will melt off especially if you haven’t restricted a calorie in your life. If your food intake was composed of junk. A switch to the Carnivore Diet, or any diet, would lead to weight loss. The scale will move in the right direction no matter how many steaks or how much bacon you eat. To summarize, most people see dramatic improvements in body mass because most people are overweight/obese, to begin with, and they didn’t calorie restrict or yo-you diet.
In my case, when I first attempted this carnivore diet my main goal was not weight loss. I was at my goal weight and I wanted to find a diet that would help me to maintain but I also wanted to see my abs.
When I did the 30-day carnivore diet challenge. I had rapid weight loss and I went from 135 to 128 pounds in 30 days. At this time I was doing omad and my diet was a standard American diet which consisted of mostly junk food and sometimes nutrient-dense foods.
Now if you come into this carnivore diet, for example from a restrictive diet like the ketogenic diet and you are a tracker and you weigh and count everything. You may just gain weight. This is because you are coming into this diet leaner. If you are not tracking anymore and eating as much as you want. You might just eat like a person that is going from feast to famine. The other thing that happens is your body wasn’t getting the protein and fat it desired. You may have been deficient in micronutrients as well as macronutrients. Actually, this weight gain is a good thing because the body is finally getting the nourishment it needed. Everything will balance out.
This time I started 139.6 and my weight has been going up and down! Actually last weight in I gained almost two pounds. I was actually expecting the same weight loss experience as my 30-day challenge. The funny thing is I did exactly the same thing I did for the challenge. Just before starting this time around. I was doing a lot of binging. I was doing keto, carnivore, omad and just eating like an idiot. But mostly I was doing a lot of restrictive eating. So I really should not be surprised at the weight gain. My body is in serious need of the nourishment that the steaks are providing. I will have to ignore the weight craziness for now.
Week 4 health benefits so far
Acne – I have fewer new breakouts.
Digestion – Still no more acid reflux! No more bloating!
Sleep – Same as last week – I am sleeping throughout the night.
Energy – Still the same. It is fall.
Weight – Current weight is 137.2!
Week 1 – I was 139.6!
Week 2 – I was 137.2!
Week 3 – I was 138.8
So I am back to 137.2, which is the same weight as week 2! On a positive note, the scale is moving in the right direction.
If you are doing this experiment and the scale is moving in the wrong direction. Don’t give up. Let’s keep going. We got this!
