Day 9 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!

Hello friends: It’s day nine of the carnivore diet experiment! I am feeling great! I have noticed a change in some of my digestive issues.

For years I have struggled with digestive issues and at one point I had to take tums after every heavy meal. I would get acid reflux and that was the absolute worst. I would not wish this condition on my enemy.

Acid reflux or gerd is a long-term condition where stomach contents come back up into the esophagus. It is due to poor closure of the lower esophageal sphincter (the junction between the stomach and the esophagus). When the contains comes back up it is very painful. It feels like an unbearable burning sensation in the chest. I have had many hospital visits to deal with this.

My doctor recommended avoiding certain foods such as citrus, tomato, chocolate, mint, garlic, onions, or spicy or fatty foods. I researched that other triggers are beverages, such as alcohol, carbonated drinks, coffee, or tea. Not eating immediately before going to sleep was very helpful as well. However, I still struggled.

Sometimes I did everything I was supposed to do but I still had episodes of acid reflux. I was prescribed Nexium but I only took it when I absolutely needed to. Meaning I had no other choice. It was…take a Nexium or a trip to the emergency room. My problem was that intense. They would give a liquid that seemed to help for that time but my problem would reappear the next day. Acid reflux pain can be very intense and horrible. I didn’t want to just take a pill to get rid of the problem. I didn’t want a band-aid solution. Something was going on with my digestion and I wanted to deal with this naturally if possible.

The product that helped me was Bragg’s organic apple cider vinegar. I drank it daily, actually. It has so many benefits. The one the most popular benefit is weight loss! Please do your research on acv. However, I found out quickly that missing a day of drinking acv caused my reflux to return. I have noticed that while on the carnivore diet, I have not had to drink apple cider every day and I have had zero gerd episodes. I am feeling overjoyed! I am not sure how this diet has cured my acid reflux.

Today’s dinner was steak! My husband and daughter had steak as well. We each had a pan-fried gigantic ribeye steak for dinner. The steak was so big that my daughter did not have any vegetables with hers. I guess you could say that we all had a carnivore dinner together. I had a beautiful long weekend. I love spending time with my extended family. I will admit that I had a lot of temptations and I still have sugar cravings. I cannot wait for them to go away. I have to have patience.
