Hi friends: It’s day 84 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! Also I completed my water fast/sea salt flush today!

Health Benefits of Water Fasting

There are several benefits to drinking water in general.

Mental Clarity

You are able to think much more clearly when fasting compared to regular eating habits. This is probably a side effect of your body not working very hard and in turn causing you to relax.

Many entire 5 days of fasting was very relaxing. I felt that I had more time. I didn’t realize how much time was devoted to preparing and eating just my food. This week was about facials and long baths.

Fat Burn

After your body has used all of its extra calories, it begins burning fat. When your body burns fat, you lose weight.

I am not a fan of fasting merely to lose weight. I like to use fasting as a detox and a way to reset. When you are fasting your body goes into survival mode. Your body realizes that it is not being fed. So in order to protect you, your metabolism slows to a crawl. I understand that it is really important to not go on a binge when the fast ends. Otherwise all the weight lost will come right back.

The foods suggested to break the fasts are all trigger foods for me. I haven’t had carbs for almost 3 months. So in my case I will stick to breaking my fast with meat. Let’s see what happens.

If food is reintroduced properly and in moderation, keeping the weight off is possible.

Vision

I have read that it can sharpen your vision. I haven’t noticed a slight change but I did only fast for 5 days.

Longer Lifespan

It’s hard to explain the science behind this one, but research shows that those who fast live longer.

I think the longer life is due to the removal of toxins from the body which in turn allows the body to rest.

Detoxify

This was the main reason I wanted to do this fast. I hope to go back to a proper all meat diet that is filled with nutrient dense meat which is better for us.  I hope this is the reset that I was needing.

Dinner:

I broke my fast with a thick juicy steak. I decided to not have the eggs it was too much. I didn’t have any tummy distress at all. So I wonder why all the experts say to break your fast with carbs and leave the meat to the end. Hmmmmm….

Week 12 health benefits so far:
Acne – My skin is acne free. Now working on my acne scars.
Digestion – Still great!
Sleep – Same as last week – I am sleeping throughout the night. Insomnia cured!
Skin – I am finally seeing an improvement in my eczema.
Health – I am feeling great. Lots of energy!
Vision – I have noticed a slight change in my vision.
Weight – Current weight is 129.6???
Week 1 – I was 139.6!
Week 2 – I was 137.2!
Week 3 – I was 138.8!
Week 4 – I was 137.2!
Week 5 – I was 137.4!
Week 6 – I was 135.2!
Week 7 – I was 136.6!
Week 8 – I was 136.0!
Week 9 – I was 135.4!
Week 10 – I was 135.8!
Week 11 – I was 134.4!
