Day 8 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!
Hello friends: It’s day eight of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! It’s officially Thanksgiving here in Canada! My husband and daughter and I usually celebrate the actual day together without extended family. While I prepped dinner, did laundry and did some work for my job. My daughter and husband made turkey sandwiches for lunch. I did feel tempted at lunchtime because their sandwiches looked so good but I got past this by reminding myself that I would have a gigantic steak later.
I had a promotion for a 2 for one movie experience at the Cineplex movie theatre. We choose to see the movie “Venom”. It just came out a few days ago. Usually, we wait for the crowds to die down but at this theatre, we can pick our seats. We were happy that we didn’t have to deal with line ups and not getting our preferred seats. I used my Scene points to pay for my daughter’s ticket. I used the 2 for on promotion for my husband and my ticket. These tickets were expensive. Actually, 18.50 per person. What could have been a 55.00 movie experience cost us exactly 23.50 for all 3 of us? Not bad! I love saving money in this way. We all just had drinks. I had water and my daughter and husband had soft drinks.
My husband is a floater when it comes to this carnivore diet experiment. He is on board mostly during the week and during the weekend and holidays, he eats carbs and mostly meat. He has still experienced benefits even though he isn’t a strict carnivore.
The movie was amazing! Lots of action! I will admit that I was tempted by the popcorn smell all around us. I am happy that I didn’t give in to temptation. I cannot wait for the day when these temptations and cravings go away!
We had planned to go for a walk after the movie but mother nature had other plans for us. It was raining and it seemed like a monsoon! So no walk for us today. We all enjoy some nice family time together at the movies and at home. I made jerk chicken for my husband and daughter’s dinner. I pan-fried a rib-eye steak for myself. I love this cut of steak.
The rib eye or ribeye (also known as Scotch fillet in Australia and New Zealand), is a beef steak from the rib section. The rib section of beef spans from ribs six through twelve. Ribeye steaks are mostly composed of the Longissimus dorsi muscle but also contain the Complexus and Spinalis muscles. I believe that the ribeye is the βbestβ cut, for these reasons:
- Price – The ribeye is nearly half the price of a filet. Is the filet a tastier steak? It can be, but is it twice as good? I donβt believe so. The ribeye is by far the tastiest.
- Marbling – The marbling (or the amount of fat interlaced throughout the cut) is fantastic. The marbling is what gives the steak flavor, and the ribeye seems to have the perfect amount: not too much, not too little.
- Ease of preparation – The ribeye is hard to ruin. This means that you can order it almost anywhere and it will usually be very good. You can grill it and it will turn out fine in almost any scenario. Itβs hearty and forgiving. Grilling it at home or fry in a pan. It is tasty medium-rare or well done. It is difficult to ruin this cut.
Today was a great day! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
