Day 10 of 365 | The Carnivore Diet Experiment!
Hello friends: It’s day 10 of 365 of the carnivore diet experiment! I am starting to experience some benefits. One of the major benefits so far is my digestion. I have noticed that my midsection is getting flat and my tummy is not bloated. What a fantastic feeling! I have had digestive issues for years and I have been to many doctors. They always tell me to eat more fiber. I noticed that eating fiber actually made my symptoms worse. I wonder if I was eating too much fiber.
This carnivore diet is really proving to be a great elimination diet. Eating just meat for 10 days, I am realizing that my digestion is doing much better without the fiber. The meat seems to be easier on my digestive system. I am really happy about this. After eating my meal, I do feel full but I don’t feel bloated. When I go to sleep, my stomach feels empty but I’m not hungry. Therefore, I feel comfortable. I did experience this when I tried this diet during the summer. I felt better but then I forgot that I was feeling better. Only when I went back to the old way of eating did I realize the difference.
Some people drink coffee and tea while doing this carnivore diet. I decided I would have coffee only once a week because drinking coffee makes me feel nervous. Also, I cannot seem to drink it without molasses and cream. Lately I have been drinking a tea called Milk Thistle. According to webmd.com milk thistle (silymarin) is a flowering herb related to the daisy and ragweed family. It is native to Mediterranean countries. Some people also call it Mary thistle and holy thistle. Milk thistle has been used medicinally for hundreds of years. It is used as a detox for the liver by some people.
It is believed to be one of the most popular and effective herbs for the treatment of psoriasis, and liver-related diseases such as hepatitis and cirrhosis, and gallbladder disorders. It is claimed that liver cell repair can help with several health issues including bad cholesterol levels, mushroom toxicity, gallstones, hepatitis C, cirrhosis and some cancers. Milk thistle alone will probably not cure these conditions, but sustained and regular consumption of milk thistle, along with a healthier lifestyle may well help to alleviate or even reverse many of the symptoms.
If you have a ragweed allergy, you should also avoid milk thistle. Milk thistle may cause a rash or lead to a severe allergic reaction. Also, this tea does react to some medications so check with your doctor. Personally, for me, I had not had any adverse reactions. This is a great alternative for me. It is nice to have a hot drink after my meal.
If you are not a fan of the strong flavours of herbal teas, no worries. If you do not steep for long it will taste like just hot water. I can easily drink this without any sweeteners or cream. This tea did not disrupt my sleep because it is without caffeine. Yasss! It is nice to have something hot after my meals. Trying this tea has peaked my interest in trying other decaffeinated teas.
Today’s dinner was steak and chicken wings! Yum!!!
